As some of you will know, I'm heading off to Antarctica this week (only two sleeps!!) for work, and as such I decided that I would play it safe and only take a bottle of Noodler's Polar Blue - just in case my bags get left outside for any length of time (and they likely will at some point). So I thought I'd start my blog off with a review of the ink I will be exclusively using for the next two months!
Despite the feathering and bleedthrough on cheap paper I actually quite like this ink - it flows smoothly and is nicely lubricated and I quite like the colour. In a pen with a fine nib and good quality paper the feathering and bleedthough is minimal (although the feathering is still present).
I probably wouldn't buy this ink unless the possibility of your ink freezing is a likely scenario - There are more well behaved blue inks out there. But given I'll be headed for the highest, driest, coldest and windiest continent on earth, I'm happy with my purchase!!
Up next: How will it actually hold up in the freezing Antarctic, erm, Summer (Perhaps I should leave it with someone who is Wintering and get them to tell me if if stays liquid even in the Winter?)
Thanks for reading,
Casey
